We even go as far as to exceed all the proposed standards for Energy Star compliance regarding efficiency. In our more than 92 years of experience in the dry type transformer business, we have learned that copper is a better conductor of electricity. True, some companies use aluminum, but why? Mostly because it's less expensive, allowing them to make a bigger profit. Copper has the highest electrical conductivity of all engineering materials, runs cooler than its aluminum equivalent, is easier to install, is more corrosion resistant, and has a less expensive life cycle. To ensure energy efficiency and a long life, we demand quality materials and workmanship (as should you). Ask for the following: 3M's “Nomex” insulation, “Glastic” fiberglass insulation, and copper wiring versus whatever substandard metal meets the standards but is cheaper for the manufacturer. Many companies today are so cost and profit driven that they actually have more engineers involved in cutting out materials due to cost cutting measures than designing and building a better product.
